Success Stories - Going up the Technology Readiness Levels

The Service Robotics Research Center is covering Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs) ranging from technological research (TRL 2 - TRL 4) to demonstration in operational environments (TRL 5 - TRL 7).

TRL levels 8 and 9 are not in the focus of the Service Robotics Research Center. For this, we collaborate with the ecosystem and various partners in different ways which includes e.g. industry-friendly open source licenses whereever appropriate and purposeful.

TRL 1 basic principles observed
TRL 2 technology concept formulated SRRC
TRL 3 experimental proof of concept SRRC
TRL 4 technology validated in lab SRRC
TRL 5 technology validated in relevant environment (industrially relevant environment in the case of key enabling technologies) SRRC
TRL 6 technology demonstrated in relevant environment (industrially relevant environment in the case of key enabling technologies) SRRC
TRL 7 system prototype demonstration in operational environment SRRC
TRL 8 system complete and qualified
TRL 9 actual system proven in operational environment (competitive manufacturing in the case of key enabling technologies)

(see Appendix G in Horizon 2020 Work Programme 2018-2020 and Wikipedia).
